Some Benefits of Meditation
Stress Reduction - Helps Control Anxiety - Promotes Mental Health - Enhances Self-Awareness - Decrease Blood Pressure - Boosts Creativity - Anger Management - You can do it anywhere
And so many other positive personal experiences which just may shift your awakening to the world and people around you.
I personally can account for all of the benefits listed above. Since I started my own personal journey years ago after going through a traumatic work related experience which by the way, took me several years to work through, I began exploring meditation being guided at the end of a fitness weekend workshop. I liked the feeling of being guided into a relaxed state.
Then I started to make it a habit of a couple of times a week and without ANY expectations. That way, there was nothing to be disappointed about.
Each experience was different from the last.
Now I meditate at least 6 days a week sometimes twice. Missing a day or a time because of being sidetracked by a busy work day won't derail my practice.
When speaking to some people whom I've known about meditation, they've made comments like "I tried it and I HATE IT! It pisses me off! It's not good for me." " I tried it once, it didn't go so well. Not for me." "I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.."
I would conclude that the individuals either expected too much, are high strung or might feel stressed in their lives already and thought they'd start to feel better right away. And that meditation is exactly what they need.

Walking Meditation
Find something that you love to do. Walking in nature or walking in your neighbourhood. Just observe what you see, how you feel and honour that. Take notice of how it makes you feel watching little children or dogs play together, or how the rain feels on your skin or the wind in your hair. |
